Today marks a departure from my usual fare which tends to be on the dark side. The world Denise Fort is drawing is so full of joy and happiness, it is simply fun to look at. And while I don't know if she would describe it as such, I see a really interesting take on bio-mechanics. Fauna with helicopter rotors, plugged in flora, all cute and cuddly. Her art is so versatile, it is at home as murals on walls and windows as it is on lamp shades, china, jewellery, recycled wood and of course paper. Born in Germany, she lives and works in the beautiful seaside town and surf destination of Raglan, New Zealand, a place that is dear to my own heart.
