Edmund Blair Leighton (1852-1922) is, along with John William Waterhouse, one of my favourite Victorian painters. His romantic medieval scenes are amongst the most widely recognised paintings of that period. The detail, even in the background, is fantastic. Just look at the stone-work in his paintings, the costumes, the chain-mail and armour. And just like with Waterhouse, his women are very beautiful.
